The tenth year of the Terra Universo De Vida, a popular festival in the city of Sao Paulo, began on January 10th, 2017. The festival is a display of 70 different cultures and traditions from all over the globe for a total of 700 days. It brings together different traditions to help create a commemorative field that will ensure the conservation of diversity and contribute to its maintenance in harmony. In order to do this, it has been an enormous challenge for many years. In addition to traditional activities such as dancing, singing and playing traditional instruments from around the world there are also more artistic projects such as theater groups with items related to their traditions or even art related projects put on by participants themselves. The tenth year will have a different approach from the previous years, with far more artistic projects being presented. In addition to this, there will be a number of events being presented in the form of workshops and forums where the public can get involved. In these workshops, which are free of charge, people can learn about various cultures and traditions from around the world. As well as this, there will also be a number of art exhibitions that relate to themes related to diversity and ecology. The main goal is to put on a show that will allow for a better understanding of each culture and tradition while at the same time educating people about their environment and how they should deal with it. There will also be a forum being launched in order for people to share their stories and experiences about their cultural traditions in a safe environment. Public transport will also be free during the festival so that people from all over the city can easily access the event. The main exhibit is a large mural by Michelangelo Pistoletto, known for his works on public spaces, at Avenida Paulista. The mural was created especially for the festival and features many different cultures from around the world with each one represented by its own element. In addition to this, there will also be several other artistic projects put on by people from across the globe including a number of musicians who have been invited to perform or promote their music in Brazil. In order to promote the festival, there have also been a number of promotional activities put on by local authorities and organizations. This includes organizing a photography contest which aims to promote diversity and tackle stereotypes. There has also been a message from the newly elected Brazilian president, elect Dóris Mattéias, where he reaffirms his commitment to diversity and his intention to fight for it as well as making it one of the main themes of the tenth year's celebration. The theme of this year's festival is "Diversity" as well as "Tolerance". The two themes are the reason behind the many different events and activities which will be held. The aim of these events is to promote diversity and harmony by opening the doors for people to showcase their culture, encouraging them to learn about other cultures, as well as showing what diversity can do for the world.
